Boris Maslov

Comparative Literature

Boris Maslov is Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature. His research focuses on Archaic Greek poetry, imperial/Byzantine Greek literature, and Old Russian literatures. He is currently working on two book projects. The first, "Pindar and the Emergence of the Literary," investigates the formation of the categories of authorship, poetic image, and literary genre in Archaic Greece. The second traces the history of the panegyric and the ode from Pindar to Mandel’shtam. He is also working on a series of studies on the afterlife of Ancient Greek sociopolitical and ethical vocabulary in Byzantium and among the Eastern Slavs.
