Marcelle Pierson

Marcelle Pierson is a PhD student in the Department of Music. Her dissertation, “The Voice under Erasure: Singing, Melody and Expression in Post-Serial Music,” investigates why a number of modernist composers felt that they could not write melodies after World War II, and explores how an altered vocality endures in their music.
