Timothy Harrison

Timothy Harrison is Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature. He is interested in the relationship between language, history, and lived experience. His work combines a historical focus on early modernity with the study of phenomenological philosophy to probe a range of verbal techniques for articulating modes of experience that resist comprehension. His current book project, "Forms of Sentience in Early Modernity," explores how writers in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries developed linguistic strategies to express how it feels to be alive.
